Third Annual CAP Cadet NASA Tour 2012

Forwarded From Capt Wigginton:

 Greetings,
Once again it is time for the Third Annual CAP Cadet NASA Michoud Assembly Facility Tour. The tour will be on the morning of 26 June 2012. The tour size limit is a total of forty thus we have room for 34 cadets and 4 seniors. If we have more than this amount wishing to attend we will arrange a second tour date.
To attend I need the names of the cadets and seniors, CAP ID #, squadron name, drivers license number and state issued from if they have one. Note: no foreign nationals allowed per NASA regulations. Also each will need a LACAPF 43 medical release form completed and brought along on the tour.
I will need this data by next Friday, 1 June 2012 to submit for NASA background checks and security clearances to enter the facility.
Dress for the tour will be in the following order: AF Blues, BDU's, golf shirt and slacks combo. If CAP uniform is not available for new members, dress shirt and slacks/skirt will be fine .
I will send out NASA Michoud driving instructions and other tour information later today.

Best regards,
John Wigginton, Capt, Cap

Sunday, 27 May 2012
No plans currently, however if someone wishes to get a group together to attend Sunday Services and then visit a Retirement Home, please contact Lt Pike with the list of prospective attendees and your proposal.
KNOWLEDGE BASE ENTRY: Civil Air Patrol members are encouraged to wear their service dress or corporate uniform while attending worship services the Saturday or Sunday before Memorial Day. CAP's National Executive Council has requested that the organization's region commanders encourage members to wear their uniform on theirday of worship both before Memorial Day and on the first weekend in December. CAP will mark its 70th anniversary Dec. 1, and the organization plays a vital role in the Wreaths Across America campaign to honor American veterans throughout the nation and the world the second Saturday of every December. "Wearing our uniforms in surroundings and circumstances that incorporate reverence and respect reflect some of Civil Air Patrol's deepest core values,” said Maj. Gen. Amy S. Courter, CAP national commander. “We hope our members choose to represent our organization at this important time in our history – when the nation pays tribute to veterans who have served, fought and died to preserve America’s freedoms."
  • THIS does not mean you can wear it all day. The "one hour before and after" rule applies here. Therefore if you are not attending a Memorial Day event after service, or participating as an official CAP  group (cadets, under the supervision of a Senior Member) you are required to change.

We are in need of Color Element members and as many other cadets as possible to work with Resthaven Gardens for a tribute. This is the first time they have planned this so they could use some creativity. Need an NCOIC or OIC to volunteer to lead this up. Contact  Lt Col Collins  as soon as possible.

Learn to Lead Drill Tests out of Sync

TAKE NOTE:
After much confusion about why the grades for some drill test were not being accepted by the Data Entry system in eServices, we have finally discovered the problem.
Cadets and staff take note!

Achievement 1 The cadet must pass drill test labeled Achievement 1 with 11 to become airman

Achievement 2 The cadet must pass drill test labeled achievement 2 with 11 to become A1c

Achievement 3 The cadet must pass drill test labeled achievement 3 with 8 to become Sr Arm

Achievement 4 There is no drill test required to become SSgt

Achievement 5 The cadet must pass drill test labeled achievement *4* with 4 correct to be TSgt.

*NOTE! For achievement #5, use drill achievement #4

Achievement 6 The cadet must pass drill test Labeled achievement *5* with 16 correct to be MSgt

And So on....... but we are not sure where it gets off line again....

This pertains to Learn To Lead cadets only. We have no idea if the older tests are screwed up. They may be, so we will have to watch it.

If working on an achievment higher than C/SMSgt and there is doubt, send an email and ask Major Moeller or myself to see if there is a Drill test field on your promotion page. I suggest you not trying to ask us during a meeting because it probably will not happen. Be considerate, be prepared, plan ahead.

Needed: old Volunteer Magazines

Do you have those old Volunteer magazines stacking up somewhere, not sure what to do with them after you've read them?

If so, please do not throw them out. Bring them to the squad room. I will place a label over the address label with our squadron and meeting information and will leave them in waiting rooms around the parish. OR perhaps you will want to do it and put your contact information on the front to use it as a recruiting tool yourself. If you do it yourself, let me know that you are doing it please.

Thanks
